The supermarket came under fire over the weekend for launching an instore only clothing sale which resulted in huge queues at several outlets people are only supposed to visit shops for essential food items.

And booking grocery orders online is a bit of a challenge as most slots are snapped up quickly, with vulnerable customers given priority.

This means that many customers are having to shop locally or use different supermarkets, especially if they live on the outskirts of Scotland’s bigger towns where using public transport isn’t an option at the moment.

The result is that regular Tesco customers can’t earn their loyalty points on the Clubcard scheme or, more importantly, spend them.

Zoe Evans of Tesco customer engagement centre said: “We appreciate that, for many reasons, most of us aren’t shopping as often as we did before lockdown.

“As a little help from Clubcard, we want to give you more time to use your vouchers which were due to expire on 31 May 2020.

“Any vouchers issued in May 2018 will now not expire until 30 November 2020, giving you an extra six months to use them.

“We update the expiry date on your digital vouchers, and we continue to accept paper vouchers in store until the extended expiry date.

“We really hope it helps, and take care.”
